How do I check my SASSA status?

You can check your SASSA SRD status online at srd.sassa.gov.za, through WhatsApp on 082 046 8553, or by using the status checker on this page. According to SASSA service updates, millions of status checks are processed monthly, so response times may vary during peak days near payment dates. For direct support, call SASSA at 0800 601 011.

What is the current SRD grant amount?

The current SRD grant amount is R370 per month. This amount was implemented by government in 2024 and remains the published value for eligible beneficiaries in current SASSA SRD guidance. Always verify the latest amount and policy updates on the official SASSA website and National Treasury announcements.

How do I apply for the SRD grant?

Apply online at srd.sassa.gov.za using your South African ID number and your registered mobile number. You then complete personal details, banking/payment method, and consent checks. SASSA advises applicants to keep contact details accurate because ID, income, and database verification is performed before each monthly outcome is issued.

Why is my SASSA SRD status still pending?

A pending result usually means SASSA is still running verification checks with sources such as Home Affairs, SARS, UIF, and banking records. During high-volume cycles this can take longer, especially around month-end. If your status stays pending beyond one payment cycle, verify your details on srd.sassa.gov.za and then contact SASSA support for escalation.
