Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be an Asylum Seeker with a valid File Number OR
  • Hold a Special Permit from Zimbabwe, Angola, or Lesotho
  • Be between 18 and 60 years old
  • Not receive any other social grants
  • Not receive UIF payments
  • Have no other source of income
  • Have no financial support from any other source

Required Information

You’ll need:

  1. For Asylum Seekers:

    • Valid Asylum Seeker File Number
    • Working cell phone number
  2. For Special Permit Holders:

    • Valid Passport Number
    • Special Permit details
    • Working cell phone number

Application Process

  1. Start Your Application:

  2. Phone Verification:

    • Enter your mobile number
    • Click “send sms”
    • Wait to receive your verification code via SMS
    • Enter the verification code when prompted
  3. Complete Application:

    • Enter your File Number or Passport Number
    • Provide your personal details
    • Confirm contact information
    • Accept the declaration
    • Submit your application

Checking Your Payment Status

To check your payment status:

  1. Visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za/asylum
  2. Under “Lookup Payment ID to collect payment at Pick ’n Pay”:
    • Enter your File Number or Passport Number
    • Enter the cell phone number used in your application
    • Click “submit”

Payment Collection

When approved, you can collect your payment from:

  • Pick ’n Pay stores
  • Boxer stores
  • Selected retailers

Important: Always bring your:

  • Original Asylum Document or Special Permit
  • The cell phone used for application (to receive OTP)
