How Payment Dates Work
SASSA follows a monthly payment schedule that typically follows this pattern:
- Older Person’s Grants - Paid first, usually from the 2nd to the 6th of the month.
- Disability Grants - Paid second, typically the day after the Older Person’s Grant.
- Child Grants (Child Support, Foster Child, Care Dependency) - Paid last, typically the day after the Disability Grant.
- SRD R370 Grant - Paid throughout the month in batches, with no single fixed date.
Collection Methods
You can collect your SASSA grant through the following methods:
- SASSA Gold Card - ATMs and retailers (Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, etc.)
- Personal Bank Account - Direct bank deposit (recommended)
- Retail Outlets - For SRD R370 grants, at designated supermarkets.

A: Your grant remains available for collection for up to 90 days.
Q: Can someone else collect my grant for me?
A: Yes, but they need a signed letter of authorization from you and must present their ID along with a copy of your ID. This is not recommended.
Q: What happens if the payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday?
A: Payments are typically moved to the next business day. This is reflected in the official schedule.
